When Searching For Clarity...

Its not always obvious

Life is not linear.

As much as we want things to always be on a steady rise…

It’s just not realistic.

There are seasons of life where everything just makes sense and others where nothing makes sense at all.

So what do we do when nothing makes sense?

The real question here is:

“Do we try try try to make sense of it all, or do we just let it fall into place?”

Latley in my life I have been battling with this question myself.

I actually think that the answer is both...

We need to try to make sense of what’s going on by allowing things to fall into place at the perfect time.

It would be really nice to just decide that one day you are going to wake up, go for a walk, and just find the clarity you have been looking for.

However its not always that simple (that is a good way to find clarity though)

Some aspects of life take time to figure out.

Like:
- What’s my purpose?
- Why am I doing this?
- Who am I really trying to be?

These are precisely the questions I have been pondering on myself and I think I actually have a solution on how to figure these things out.

Its a combination of walking, talking, and writing.

When you are on your walks, talk to yourself outloud.

I know it sounds crazy, and it kind of is…

But hear me out.

You know how when you talk to someone about your problems you start to feel better?

Like all you needed to do was get it off your chest about how you were feeling and then you start to realize: “I actually just figured all of this out just by talking to you”

Yeah, thats how it usually is when you talk to yourself.

The reason I say that you should do it when you are on a walk is because it is now scientifically proven that going on a walk and looking at things that are far in the distance is more effective for curing depression or changing your mood than prescription drugs. (wow what a shocker)

When your walking your using both the left and right hemispheres of your brain and you are now able to think in a more efficient way because both sides are active.

Now, when you do this you will start to have a lot of downloads.

You will start to learn about yourself.

You will come up with great ideas.

You will realize that all of the answers to your problems are within you already.

Even if it’s not a complete solution, you can always find the next step towards one.

When you have these downloads, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you write them down (or type them into your phone)

If you do not do this, you will likely forget what you were thinking of that was so revolutionary at the time.

Of course you can just record while you are talking to yourself, but theres a reason why you want to write it down in the moment it comes to you.

In the moment that download comes to you, you are connected to the source of that download and when you start writing it down in that moment you can get more downloads flooding in that give you more clarity that you just don’t get when you listen to the audio later.

So, the formula for finding more clarity on anything in your life is:

  1. Go on a walk

  2. Start talking to yourself and record it

  3. Write down downloads as they come in

  4. Ponder on those downloads and take action

This is information that I have known for a good bit of time now, but sometimes you just need a reminder of the power of your own thoughts.
